Tracking the changelog via RSS/Atom

Don't want to keep checking the changelog manually for breaking changes? Any application built on our APIs can subscribe to the changelog's RSS or Atom feed instead, and get notified automatically whenever a new entry appears.

Feed URLs

FormatURL
RSShttps://developers.onroerenderfgoed.be/en/changelog/rss.xml
Atomhttps://developers.onroerenderfgoed.be/en/changelog/atom.xml

Both feeds contain exactly the same items — RSS and Atom are two competing standards for the same idea. Use whichever your feed reader or tool supports best; there's no functional difference.

Most feed readers also support autodiscovery: just paste https://developers.onroerenderfgoed.be/en/changelog into your reader, and it will find the right feed URL itself via a link in the page header.

What's in an entry?

Each entry in the feed corresponds to one changelog post, with:

  • a title and link to the full post on the portal;
  • a publish date;
  • tags, such as the name of the affected API (e.g. inventaris) and, where applicable, breaking-change;
  • the full content of the post.

Tracking only breaking changes

Not every post is a breaking change — some are general announcements. Every entry carries its tags as <category> elements in the feed, so if your feed reader or automation tool can filter by category, you can limit yourself to items tagged breaking-change, or to a specific API such as inventaris. The feed itself doesn't expose a separate URL per tag — filtering happens on your end. If you just want to browse the entries for one API without a feed reader, you can do that directly on the portal via the tag page.

Getting started

A few practical ways to use a feed:

  • Feed reader: add the feed URL to a reader like Feedly, Inoreader, NetNewsWire, or Thunderbird.
  • Email: services like Blogtrottr email you whenever a new entry appears — handy if you don't use a feed reader.
  • Automation: wire the feed into a workflow tool (e.g. an RSS trigger in n8n, Zapier, or IFTTT) to, say, automatically post a message in a team chat when a breaking change lands.

What about the Blog feed?

Our Blog has its own, separate RSS/Atom feed (/blog/rss.xml and /blog/atom.xml) with background articles about our IT projects and technology — that's not the same as the changelog. If you only want to stay on top of breaking changes and releases, subscribe to the changelog feed above.
